YOUR INVITATION TO JOIN THE FIRST FAMILY
You can become a member of First United Methodist Church in one of the following ways:
CONFESSION OF FAITH is the initial entrance into membership in the church when one confesses faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior;
REAFFIRMATION OF FAITH is one's renewing of the initial confession of faith after a period of inactivity or not being on a church membership roll;
TRANSFER OF MEMBERSHIP may be from another United Methodist Church or a Christian church of another denomination. We recognize Baptism from all other Christian churches.
YOUR COMMITMENT: The First Family is committed TO KNOW CHRIST & MAKE CHRIST KNOWN. Every member commits to be actively involved in the life of the church by their:
PRAYERS praying for others, the church, the world, and yourself. We ask every member to have a daily quiet time for prayer and meditation.
PRESENCE worshipping weekly and participating in other opportunities for study and nurture, mission and outreach. FUMC is committed to expanding its small group ministry, and so we ask each new member to try a small group for at least 5 weeks.
GIFTS regularly and sacrificially providing financial support for the local and global ministries of the church. FUMC asks that members prayerfully consider the biblical discipline of tithing and proportionate giving.
SERVICE serving in one or more ministry areas utilizing the gifts that God has given us. FUMC asks that members take advantage of seminars/classes where we can discover our spiritual gifts, our passions, and our ministry style so that we might identify in what ministry we best serve.
NEW MEMBERS commit to attending a new member orientation session where they will learn about the church's ministries and make an initial commitment of PRAYERS, PRESENCE, GIFTS and SERVICE for the remainder of the year.
You may request to join First UMC by filling out the following and placing it in an offering plate or by leaving it in the church office.
One of our pastors will make contact with you as soon as possible.
